Have you ever felt tired of having the same routine everyday? How many times have you thought that you need a change in your life? That you want to do something new, start traveling, work or do something for you not for someone else? I’m pretty sure that a thought like that popped into your head at least once at some moment.
It happened to us, yeah, more than once. We just needed it to be in the right moment of our lives. When was that? About a year ago when we moved into our first apartment together in Germany. We both were having the typical job of being an employee of some company, and I was just starting the last year of my degree in PR.
Despite our everyday activities like going to the gym, shopping, hanging out with friends or family, we still had the feeling that we needed more. That we could do more. But what? Well pretty much everything that we only have dreamed about before. Easy to imagine but hard to admit that is possible. Talking about the future, considering the ideas that make us happy and discarding the not wanted ones brought us to the conclusion that we want to explore the world. Travel. Quit our jobs, leave the flat and go on the adventure. We just needed some more time to save enough money. We didn’t know exactly where, when or how, but we knew that soon we would be living our dream.
The last year in Germany started to count down. It didn’t go by too fast though. We had enough time to realise that our lives would change, to figure out more details about the big adventure, to make our families get used to the idea, and me to finish my degree and graduate. The adventure became our focus and our main source of motivation. It was a good year. 6 trips to Romania, 3 to Spain, 4 weddings, few trips through Germany, one to Prague and the birth of our lovely nephew. So much fun! But so much more was about to come. A big adventure time. We decided that we would leave our flat at the end of September of 2019. We started packing one month before which was the just time to finish the moving out. You know, the typical, you don’t realise how many things you have until you actually start going through them. The 30th of September was my last day of work, and the day we handled our flat keys to the new tenants. It was not easy, but it was what we wanted. We spent the following week with our families and enjoyed it so much. On the 7th of October we had the flight to Spain. Our first destination. Part of the big adventure but also like more family time before our big travel. As the time went on, everything fell into its place and all the ideas that once were just in our mind were real. It’s happening, and it’s more real than ever. The big adventure begins the 9th of November. Where to? South Asia here we come!
Taking a decision that is life changing might sound scary and out of it’s place. But everything looks scary if we think too much about it. Happiness is our main goal and we fight for it. All the risks are worth taking as long as we are happy.
Would you take a risk?
